Srivilliputhur: On the occasion of the Brahmotsava festival which has started with a bang in Tirupati, items such as Andal covered poomalai, silk cloth and parrot have been sent to Tirupati from Srivilliputhur to be worn by Etummalayan during the Garuda Seva held on Tuesday.
Every day thousands of people come from different states to have darshan of Venkatajalapathi at Tirumala Tirupati. Lakhs of devotees visit during festivals and holidays.
Currently, as it is Puratasi month, many devotees come to Tirupati and have darshan of Swami. As Brahmotsavam begins, colorful lights and postures illuminate the festival grounds.
The Brahmotsava festival will be held till October 12. Following the Brahmotsava flag hoisting, Andhra State Mulvar Chandrababu Naidu presented a silk robe to the Swami as a couple.
The devasthanam priests formed a circle and paid their respects to the chief. On a daily basis, special prayers are being offered to the Swami.
Pooja is performed daily to the great Perumal named Moolavar Vadabhadrasayanar at Srivilliputhur Andal Temple. During this worship, Perumal blesses the devotees by wearing the garland lit by Andal.
Similarly, in Madurai too, Kallaghar Chitrai Festival, Srirangam Ranganatha Chitrai Therottam, which descends into Vaigai River, and the auspicious objects of Andal are sent to Perumal.
A huge flower garland was prepared at Srivilliputhur for the occasion and decorated for the occasion and special poojas were performed on Sunday at 2 pm.
